We are nearing the end of the year, and we have got a few more services to add to our roster.
You can now come to San Diego PC Help and have your Apricorn, Fujitsu, or Samsung hard disk drives serviced for specialized data recovery. We are now ready to perform data recovery services on a long list of hard drive manufacturers and models.
As you might know, we are no longer assessing fees for data recovery diagnostic. That's right; there is no longer a charge associated with getting your hard drive inspected for data recovery. To clarify, at absolutely no cost to you, we'll analyze your hard drive and tell you exactly if and how much information we can recover for you.
Please note that diagnostic time varies based on the amount of work we have at any given time, but we do offer a priority service if you need your drive processed quickly.

Patent wars, Google and the future of innovation
All this wrangling about patents and lawsuits flying back and forth makes me reminisce about the good old days when product wars between companies were fought between early adopters, geeks, experts, and bloggers.
The places were the user forums, tech websites and tech blogs like this one. Companies would try to out-do each other by introducing new technologies-sometimes radically different, sometimes just as incremental upgrades. Well, not any more. So here is the deal folks-The high-tech product war is now being fought in the courts. The players will be the lawyers, the judges and the company executives fighting over who did what first. Leadership News: Jeff Bezos, Leo Apotheker and Steve Jobs
News flowed in last week about three CEOs and three companies they head.
So it gave me an idea of writing a sort of roundup of news about these high-profile CEOs and how their leadership is going to shape or has shaped the future of their companies. One of them, whom I have always admired, has continued to make bold moves and disrupt the way of doing business; the other resigned, and has prompted his fans to remember their admiration for his work and his leadership; while the third one, just one year into his stint as CEO, has raised speculation that he may be bringing on a disaster upon an already ailing company. I don’t think you’ll have trouble knowing who’s who. Read more...
Our September winner is reader Sophie. She asked:
I recently bought my first Mac (an 11" new Macbook Air). I've browsed through the Mac App store, and googled for "best Mac Apps" for non-App Store results, but the results seem either dated or repetitive.
What do you find are some of the best Mac apps? I'm particularly interested in ones that don't necessarily get huge amounts of attention.
Our Answer: Omni's apps are great awesome. We recommend using OmniGraffle and OmniOutliner, in particular.
Flexiglass is a useful utility that adds some Windows 7 window management niceties to Mac OS X.
Cyberduck is another useful utility for file exchange with FTP, SFTP, SSH, S3, Google Storage and other services.
Finally, we recommend the Reeder app for managing RSS feeds.

Advice & Tips
More RAM can stop that grinding sound
Adding more RAM allows your computer to have more data ready to use when it needs it. And the more data that’s ready for your processor, the less often your hard drive has to chatter away to supply the processor.
So if your hard drive seems to be running all the time, and you can’t find any more programs to remove, and you’ve checked all the potential issues above, then more RAM might be that best choice on the menu.
Vista lets you capture selected parts of your screen
Print Screen has been a feature of Windows for a long time. It even made it all the way to become a button key on keyboards.
With Vista, you can go that one necessary step beyond your run-of-the-mill Print Screen command. Type ‘snipping’ into the search box to find the built-in Vista Snipping tool. When the tool shows up in the search box, click it to open it. This tool allows you to highlight a section of the screen and save it as a picture file.
