COMMON WINDOWS PHONE PROBLEMS WE’VE FIXED
- Phone reboots randomly (can occur when using Bluetooth or certain apps)
When applications are installed they require certain permissions from the mobile device to work properly. When an app is given too many permissions, it behaves as an administrator or “admin”. Then, when the app updates itself and restarts, it causes the entire phone to unexpectedly reboot. Conversely, when an app is given no permissions, it will attempt to uninstall itself. When it can’t do so due to lack of permissions, it tells the operating system that it’s not working properly, which causes the phone to restart in an attempt to uninstall. This creates a perpetual, unending loop of failure.
Solution: edit software
- Screen freezes (often after exiting sleep mode)
After the windows 8.1 update, multiple users have reported that their mobile device would frequently freeze. This occurs for two different reasons, the first being when the device’s software does not properly regulate the amount of power distributed to the systems components. The second reason is when the operating system fails to power up the central processor (CPU) after going into an idle state when not being used. These power failures cause the device to act improperly which causes freezing.
Solution:Replace CPU, Edit software
Screen Turns Off During Calls
- Screen blackens when making or receiving calls
Occasionally the mobile device’s screen will turn off during calls even though it is not near objects like the user’s face. Whenever the Windows Phone makes a call, the proximity sensor searches for the user’s face and if it detects it then the screen will turn off. This prevents the user from accidentally ending the call. If the mobile device’s screen turns off when it is not near any object then the proximity sensor is broken.
Wifi Connection Issues
- Does not connect to home wifi
- Wifi extremely slow
A number of users tell us they have problems with their mobile device’s wifi connection. This can occur on HTC phones due to the problematic sim card software. At times it confuses the wifi connection for a mobile network connection and clogs the phone with unneeded information which either slows or disconnects it from the wifi network. Solution: Replace wifi
- Screen is shattered
- Touch screen doesn’t react
Windows Phones use capacitive screens. These screens have multiple layers. The layer nearest to the surface is a layer filled with an electrical current that detects a user’s touch. After a user’s touch is detected, signals are sent to the components of the phone which results in a response by the software. The other layers are a mix of LCDs and materials to decrease glare and increase screen resolution. When users sit on or drop their phone, cracks on the screen can appear which permanently affect the mobile device.
Solution:Replace the screen
