COMMON IMAC PROBLEMS WE’VE FIXED
Gray or Blue Boot Screen
- Grey or blue screen when booting
- Booting will not work correctly
Occasionally iMacs will boot up with a blue or grey screen and not work properly. This occurs for two different reasons, the first being hardware failure. Sometimes the motherboard or the hard drive of these devices will fail resulting in this boot up screen. The second reason this occurs is when the devices software is corrupted. This leads to the iMacs driver to not work properly which causes users to experience blue and gray boot up screens.
Solutions:Repair software, Replace hard drive, Replace Logic Board
Display Not Working
- Monitor will show distorted images
Some users have reported having problems with their display not working correctly. This occurs for two different reasons, the first being multiple cases of hardware failure. Many components in the mac contribute to images on the display. In most cases when users encounter this problem it is either the devices graphics card or faulty RAM. Graphics cards help display everything on the screen and if it malfunctions nothing will display correctly. Ram is used to help calculate tasks the iMac performs and if the device cannot process anything then it cannot display anything on the monitor. This also occurs because of an operating system failure. Sometimes the operating will not boot the correct drivers which causes the screen to go haywire.
Solutions:Replace graphics card, Replace RAM, Repair operating system, Repair Drivers
Kernel Panics Screen
- When multiple applications are open there will be a Kernel Panel pop up
- applications will not work
Whenever multiple programs or the operating system fail the screen dubbed “Kernel panics” appears. When multiple programs fail the system is overwhelmed and falls back to this screen to protect the hardware. Occasionally these multiple programs will fail constantly which leads to the iMac always resorting to this screen. This error also occurs when the operating system fails and cannot boot up correctly. This occurs because of viruses or failed updated which can lead to the operating systems corruption.
Solutions:Repair Operating system, Remove viruses, Repair broken programs
iMac Won’t Boot
- Will not boot
- will stay at a black screen
Some users have experienced problems when trying to boot up their Mac device. This occurs for two different reasons, both being related to hardware failure. The first being a power supply failure. The power supply inside the mac converts incoming AC electricity to DC power that the computer needs. If it does not do this properly the failsafe inside the device will prevent electricity from going through to make sure other hardware isn’t harmed. The second reason this occurs is because of a logic board failure. The logic board inside the Mac is responsible for distributing power to every component inside the device. If it does not do this correctly the system cannot boot up.
Solutions:Replace power supply, Replace Logic board
iMac going extremely slow
- Mac will work significantly slow
Occasionally Macs will run slower than usual. This occurs for two different reasons, the first being the operating system. Apple doesn’t always optimize their new operating systems for older hardware which can lead to problems when runner things. Because of this some devices will run slower after updates. The second problem its a corrupted hard drive. Sometimes the hard drive inside the Mac will stop working properly and fail to read files as fast as it used to. Which eventually could lead to complete hard drive failure resulting in other problems.
Solutions:Repair operating system, Repair hard drive, Replace hard drive
