Internet marketing is one of the biggest grey areas in terms of what works and what doesn’t. I’ve learned through trial and error that the quickest solution isn’t always the greatest, some of the Internet’s most basic tools can give you an edge you never thought possible. One of the earliest things I learned in trying to promote my work effectively was that the browser you use can have a lot of impact on how well your marketing tactics reach. Both Firefox and Google Chrome are a marketer’s dream come true when it comes to extensions to make the job easier. Here are a few extensions I’ve used to help make my job easier in Chrome.

AddThis
This is the premier extension for keeping track of all of your social media accounts. I use it to instantly share pages to my Facebook, Twitter and Digg accounts, but the service features over 30 different social networks that you can use. This is an absolute must for getting your pages out across your social networks since it saves time. Instead of visiting each site individually, I just use the AddThis plugin and get the message sent across multiple channels in an instant.

ChromeSEO
One of the biggest numbers that will affect any social media marketer is PageRank. Since PageRank is so important, keeping tabs on how well you’re doing is equally important. ChromeSEO helps with this as it gives you up to the minute stats on a website as a whole, as well as any particular page you’re browsing. I use it to keep track of how well certain pages are doing versus the rest of my site so I can identify weak points I need to work on.

Hootlet
Twitter is one of the greatest social marketing tools anyone can use to spread links around, which is why the Hootlet extension for HootSuite is a must. HootSuite is an analytics tool for Twitter that lets you see how many clicks your shared links have garnered, as well as referring sites and other information. I use Hootlet to access all of my HootSuite information directly from Google Chrome without having to have the website open. In fact, HootSuite is so powerful I’ve seen Internet providers in my area using the ow.ly URL shortener that is specific to HootSuite, so they’re using it too.
Feedly
Keeping track of what’s trending in your particular niche is a great way to know what you should be marketing. I have a list of RSS feeds that I read daily so that I know what’s trending in my niche. I use the Feedly extension because it works with Google Reader and provides an easy to use magazine-like interface that presents my feeds without a lot of extra bloat. The recent update to Google Reader is not to a lot of people’s liking either, so if you have several RSS feeds that you keep track of within your daily routine, then definitely give the Feedly extension a try. It’s beautiful and makes keeping track of RSS feeds a real pleasure.
As you can see, there are plenty of extensions that I use to help me keep track of how well my marketing efforts are doing. Twitter and Facebook are integral parts of making sure my campaigns succeed, so integrating them with Google Chrome in some capacity was one of my first efforts to help streamline the time I spend marketing. With these extensions, I can focus more on content and quality and less on the submission of content, making my job that much easier. With big name players focusing on the same efforts, it’s no wonder I’ve seen internet providers in my area using the same extensions that I do for marketing.
I’m Ruben Corbo and I would like to thank San Diego PC Help for allowing me to guest post. I’m a freelancer writer for the website Broadband Expert where you can find high speed internet providers in my area (as well as others of course). When I’m not writing, I’m composing/producing music for short films or other forms of visual arts.
